Donji HumacDonji Humac is one of the oldest settlements on the Croatian island of Brač, about 2 kilometers from Nerežišća, the previous capital of the island and home of Brac's aristocracy.Cultural objects dug out from the cave of Kopacina (1 km from Donji Humac) span several millennia in history. On the side of the pre-Romanesque church of St. Elias there are the remains of a Roman mausoleum, and on the wall of the medieval church of St. Lucas there is the first sketch of a boat in Croatian medieval art.In the parish church of St. Fabian and Sebastian --with a baroque bell-tower--there is a fresco of Christ dating from the 12th century. Donji Humac is linked to Supetar--the current capital of Brac, and its frequent ferries to Split-- through a paved 8-km road.With it’s two hundred inhabitants,Donji Humac is one of the smallest settlement on the island.The traditional style of life is still present here.Small idyllically village,inhabitated mostly by stonemasons,shepherds and farmers. The center of the village is it’s main and only square,which bares the name of the first Croatian president dr. Franjo Tuđman.There you can find caffe bar Mendula.Just above the square and caffe,one of the best restaurants with a traditional island cuisine,found it’s place.Konoba “Kopačina”is a synonym for a good food and quality spent time.A hundred meters from the square,there is a shop.
