Lumbarda

The beauty of our village on the vine-clad hills has attracted people for millennia. Its stones bear witness to the long history of man’s enjoyment here of the riches of nature. The famous Psephisma from Lumbarda (now in the Archeological Museum in Zagreb) was chiselled in the third century B.C. to record how Greeks from the island of Issa (now Vis) built and organised their community on this shore.

“Good luck” it begins. And fortune has been here through the tumultuous centuries of Lumbarda’s history, as different peoples with different cultures came to fish, grew wine, settled, adapted the landscape, and shaped the picture of Lumbarda today.

That's why we invite you to come to Lumbarda. Listen to the timeless winds tell our story; dive into the blue depths and discover the beauty of our sea; soak up the sun on our unspoiled sandy and rocky beaches; stroll along our forest tracks; sail to our little desert islands offshore; try our unique golden Grk wine and enjoy the many tastes of our local cuisine.
